To find one, look no farther than HoHoKus School of Trade in Paterson. “For the first time in New Jersey history, a proprietary institution, HoHoKus School of Trade, will offer electrical and plumbing apprenticeship opportunities to their graduates,” said Thomas M. Eastwick, president of Eastwick Education, which owns and operates the school. Eastwick said the trade school, located on Market Street, recently received approval from two of the most prestigious organizations in the state: the NJ Independent Electrical Contractors Association, and the NJ Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors. “I am thrilled to be associated with both prominent organizations; this will mean nothing but the best opportunities for our students,” said Eastwick. Electrical, plumbing apprenticeships now available According to the US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Handbook, “Job opportunities are expected to be excellent, as demand for skilled plumbers and electricians is expected to outpace the supply of workers trained in this craft. Many employers report difficulty finding potential workers with the right qualifications. In addition, many people currently working in these trades are expected to retire over the next 10 years.” Joseph Esposito, state training coordinator of the NJIECA, said the apprenticeship program is a win-win for job seekers and employers alike. “This affiliation will truly benefit our organization by providing well-trained employees and offer an advantage to the graduates by providing an inside-track to a good career,” said Esposito. “There will always be a demand for skilled electricians (continued on page 17) Seated: Scott Fralley, NJIECA apprenticeship chairman; Alan Concha, director of the HoHoKus School of Trade; Ralph Wetzel, first vice president of NJPHCC; and (standing) Joseph Esposito, NJIECA chapter training director; and Thomas M.
