Deborah Beth Hyatt marries Kristen Groenewal engaged
Deborah Beth Hyatt, daughter of Jim and Betty Hyatt of Midland Park, and Michael Patrick Amoruso, son of the late Christine Amoruso and Anthony and Teri Amoruso, were married Feb. 7 at the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. Father Ray officiated at the Mass. A reception at Macaluso’s followed the church service. Carolyn Haney, sister of the bride served as matron of honor. Brother of the groom, John Amoruso, served as best man. The bridal party included Laura Hyatt, sister of the bride, and Diane Amoruso, sister of the groom. Michael Hyatt, brother of the bride, and Anthony Amoruso, brother of the groom, were groomsmen. The bride is employed with NY Metro Verizon Wireless and the groom is with Target Intermodulas of New York City. After honeymooning in Puerto Rico, the couple will reside in Bergen County. Hank and Lori Groenewal of Wyckoff have announced the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Lee Groenewal, to Levi Jon Kool, son of David and Deb Kool of Holland, Michigan. The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon. She will graduate Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan in May 2009 with a degree in business and communications. Her fiancé is a 2002 graduate of Holland Christian High in Holland, Michigan and a 2006 graduate of Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will graduate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in May 2009. An August 2009 wedding is planned.

Herbert and Jean Soodsma celebrate 60th anniversary
Herbert and Jean, nee Van De Veen, Soodsma, lifelong residents of Midland Park, celebrated their 60th wedding anni-
versary on April 9. The Soodsmas were married in 1949 at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church. Mrs. Soodsma was employed by the National Community Bank and retired in 1988. She was a member of the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat Auxiliary and currently serves as a member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Soodsma was self-employed and owned a floor maintenance business, Home Waxing Service, until he retired in 1988. He served the community of Midland Park as a fireman, a member of the ambulance corps, and as a member of the zoning board. He also served his country in World War II and is a member of the VFW. The couple has four married children: Peter and Beverly Ten Kate of Wyckoff, Randall and Debra Veenstra of Green Pond, Kenneth and Cathy Lagerveld of North Haledon, and William and Lisa Soodsma of Wyckoff. They have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy and Patricia Hartman of Chesapeake, Virginia, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Erin M. Hartman, to Michael T. Lambrix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Maureen Lambrix of Franklin Lakes. The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and a 2006 graduate of The University of Virginia where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in teaching. She is currently a math teacher in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her fiancé is a 2002 graduate of Ramapo High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2006 from The University of Virginia in finance and marketing. He is an investment banking associate for UBS in New York City. A July 2009 wedding is planned in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
