The Gutensteins, long-time Ridgewood residents, will be presented with the first Rabbi Martin Freedman Humanitarian Award in recognition of their dedication, leadership, and charitable work. Their tireless support of innumerable Jewish causes, The Valley Hospital Foundation, and the Wharton Business School epitomizes the spirit of the award. “For so many years, Bob and Ellen Gutenstein have devoted themselves to helping others,” explained Elisse Share, co-chair of the event. “We take pride in recognizing their commitment to Barnert Temple and to their strong belief in helping to repair the world by giving back to the community and building leadership through service.” The event, which includes cocktails, dinner and an auction, will feature music by the Aztec Two-Step performing the Simon and Garfunkel Songbook. The musical part of the event will be hosted by Pete Fornatale, rock and roll historian, and veteran DJ. Proceeds from the event will support Homes for Our Troops, and Barnert Temple education and outreach programs. Taxation Gardening can be dangerous to your health. If you’re going to be digging in the dirt, be careful. There’s nothing more satisfying than a beautifully maintained yard or a prospering vegetable garden. After a long, cold winter, you can’t wait to go out there and get things growing. But don’t overdo it! If you’ve been inactive all winter, you could cause serious stress to your spine by pushing yourself too hard, too fast to transform your yard and garden into that vision of paradise you dreamed about while everything was buried in snow and ice. Take it slowly, and don’t overexert yourself. You don’t want that picture perfect landscape to cost you your good health. IF IN PAIN...
